Webinar Recap | PR Strategies

Recently, we hosted a webinar on LinkedIn, created specifically for those small business owners who may not yet be ready to hire a PR firm for reasons like:

  • Being new to their business or still in the development of their offerings.

  • Testing the market.

  • Not being in the stage of their business that would require a PR firm.

At Up in a Day, we spend much of our time researching and developing new products and services for small businesses. During our research, we have encountered marketing and PR platforms that our clients can leverage once they are up and running with one of our services.

Here are the key strategies we covered in our webinar that may help you increase your online visibility and drive more traffic to your website.

1. Leverage Podcasts for Exposure

One highly effective strategy for increasing your business’s visibility is being a guest on podcasts. You may be thinking, "But I don’t know where to start!" or "I’ve had trouble finding the right podcasts."

We get it, and we want you to know that it doesn’t have to be that difficult.

One tool we highly recommend is Podmatch, a platform that uses AI to connect podcast hosts with potential guests. It streamlines the process of booking interviews, saving you time. Once your profile is set up, Podmatch will regularly send you matches, and you can then message relevant hosts directly.

Why are podcasts so impactful? They allow you to showcase your expertise to a new, relevant audience. And once your episode is live, it continues working for you as new listeners discover the show. It’s also a fantastic way to hone your messaging and establish yourself as an authority in your field.

Tips for maximizing your podcast appearances:

  1. Promote your episode on social media, but don’t just announce that you were on a podcast—share an insightful takeaway to hook your audience, and then link to the episode.

  2. Showcase your podcast appearances on your website. You can add a section to your homepage or create a media page dedicated to your interviews and including links back to the podcasts. You can take a look at our media page for inspiration.

2. Get Published or Quoted in Articles

Even if you don’t have media contacts, you can still get published or mentioned in articles. Platforms like Qwoted connect experts like you with journalists seeking commentary for articles. It’s a great way to get your name, insights, and website in front of a larger audience.

To find the right opportunities, think about the keywords that describe your expertise and what your audience is searching for. Search those keywords on Qwoted, and you’ll find queries from journalists looking for input. Send them a pitch highlighting your expertise, and voilà—you could end up being featured in an article that boosts your credibility and visibility.

Leveraging your article mentions:

  1. Promote your features on your social media platforms.

  2. Create a media page on your website to showcase your published articles and mentions linking back to the original sources.

3. Host Webinars on LinkedIn

Hosting webinars on LinkedIn is another excellent strategy for increasing your visibility. If your target audience is active on LinkedIn, this is a great way to showcase your expertise. You’re positioning yourself as a thought leader, and the recorded webinar will live on your profile for new visitors to see.

You don’t have to go big right away. If you’re nervous about presenting live, start with short, mini-webinars that share useful nuggets of information. You’ll build confidence over time, and you can always collaborate with someone whose content complements yours.

Tips for LinkedIn Webinars:

  1. Promote your webinars with LinkedIn posts, and don’t forget to send an invite to your network.

  2. Pin the webinar to your featured posts to boost your credibility and keep it visible to anyone who visits your page.

You don’t need to hire a PR firm right away to increase your visibility. With these strategies you can start building awareness, driving traffic to your website, and positioning yourself as an expert in your field.
